Party

IMG 20250626 WA0002Some participants coming from further afield wanted a longer stay and a bit more motorcycle riding around the area. So, we began the unofficial friendly part on Thursday, June 26th. That day was all about a trip to the Modlin Fortress (approximately 35 km), led by Miecio. And in the evening, of course, there was bonding. Friday, the 27th, was another excursion for those interested – this time towards Łódź, led by Bartek. Later in the day, until late at night, more participants arrived. This meant a reception, handing out starter kits, arranging accommodations, and so on.

And on Saturday, the 28th, the official part began: a full-day rally through Mazovia, complete with sightseeing at selected points along the route. The planned route covers 105 kilometers and includes the following main stops:

- Visiting the ruins of the Masovian Dukes' Castle in Sochaczew, with a story told by a guide from the local association, a professional photo session at the foot of the castle hill, and light refreshments

- Visiting the Motonostalgia Automotive Museum in Nieborów, with a guided tour by the owner

- Lunch stop.

At the end of the planned route, part of the rally group went to visit the Brzozowski Regional Museum of Movable Figures in Sromów, instead of going to the base camp directly after lunch, which divided the group and slightly disrupted the organizational plans, but in the end they arrived at the base camp as a whole.

Finally, the evening banquet with the closing and awards ceremony could take place, concluding the official portion of the event. Live music was provided by the band "Paragraf." It's worth noting that, in an anonymous poll, the 601 OS WH sidecar, owned by Bandzior, was chosen as the "The Motorcycle of Rally", a distinction that had been repeated for the first time in the current series of rally events.

On Sunday, the 29th, after breakfast and farewells, participants departed. Initial declarations of interest in organizing another rally had also been made earlier. At 12:00 PM, the last participant departed, followed shortly after by us, the organizers. Miraculously, I arrived home completely dry at 1:30 PM.

20250628 200102Summary

Some statistics: there were actually 27 NSU bikes, 43 people. And a few guests, too. So, no record – but why bother? As Saturday's trip showed, managing such a large group isn't easy. Now, I think this is a very good result, and let's not fight for more. I admit we didn't compile a motorcycle register. But we all saw a huge qualitative leap. More older, larger machines, and brand new bikes (presented for the first time). The OS/OSL model predominated, representing all capacities: 201 OS, 251 OS, 351 OT, 351 OS/OSL, 501 OS/OSL, 601 OSL, 601 OS WH with sidecar, but there were also some side-valves machines: 301T, 501TS, 601 TS, and one Quick 100, and the increasingly prized post-war 251 OSB Max. New people also showed up, and so did new acquaintances. And that's how it should be—a constant rotation. Our event also gained international status, as there was a participant from Germany (Hans-Joachim) with an assisting colleague.

20250628 203537We've had four editions of the rally, and each one is decidedly different, in a different location. However, we have a consistent format that I really like: on the main day, Saturday: a trip, two sightseeing tours, lunch, base camp, plebiscite, and the end. Personally, I wouldn't change this format... although the next organizer can always implement new ideas.

Finally, it's time to put the finishing touches on this. Actually, I don't know what else to add. I believe our organizational efforts weren't wasted—that's the most important thing. Grzegorz and I broke the "meeting every two years" pattern—and I consider that a considerable success. We also introduced a new feature: we allowed special guests to come on "backup" motorcycles, such as colleague Zinkiel, who has rendered great service to our NSU community.

As I've already written on the forum, we know our mistakes. The participants do too. But I'll emphasize again: "the only people who don't make mistakes are the ones who do nothing." I think that, despite the setbacks, we also did a great job, and no one can take that away from us. We also solemnly promise that we won't be holding another rally in Mazovia – and that's it! This area of ours is not only weak, but also worn out from a rally perspective. You surely remember that for several years in a row we organized MPPZ (Polish Championships of Historic Vehicles) Rallies near Płock – we've been there almost everywhere. There are so many great regions, we should explore Poland and give Mazovia a wide berth for a while.

That's it for the finale of the 4th NSU rally. I think the topic is exhausted, let's move forward! As you can see, there's a continuation led by our colleagues from Toruń (the 2026 rally is already planned). We're keeping our fingers crossed for them, hope everything goes well.
